IXP
Looking Glass
A IXP is a single point for ISPs to connect and exchange local traffic. Currently, 14 ISPs and Telecom operators in Cambodia exchange traffic through Finder with the total traffic averaging 20Mbps.
Each ISP connects to Finder IXP using their own equipment (wireless, DSL, cable). A BGP session (dynamic routing protocol used by internet) is configured between the IXP router and the ISP router. The IXP router relays each ISP network announcements to all other connected ISPs.
- Exchanging traffic locally saves each ISP international bandwidth and increases the speed. The faster speeds increase data usage, which increases revenue.
- Connecting to Finder IXP is more cost effective than multiple peering links. Each ISP only requires a single link, saving equipment costs and operational costs
- Finder IXP ensures correct BGP peering, filtering incorrectly advertised networks
- Finder IXP enables ISPs and operators to peer without having to interact with each other directly
- Finder IXP staff have over 10 years experience working with ISPs, BGP and other dynamic routing protocols and Cisco routers.
- Finder IXP offers reliable connections with 24/7 power, monitoring and alarming. Staff are availability for troubleshooting.
- Our office is located at Phnom Penh Center, with access to the roof, providing a central location for both cable and wireless connections.
- We provide monthly reporting on the amount of traffic, which will help each ISP plan for upgrades if the link approaches congestion.
- Finder IXP will conduct monthly meetings to discuss methods and technologies for increasing local bandwidth usage.
