IXP

A IXP is a single point for ISPs to connect and exchange local traffic. Currently, 3 peering links exist between ISPs in Cambodia, and most local traffic is transmitted over international links. Finder IXP is offering a more efficient, cheaper method of transmitting local traffic within Cambodia. Most countries have IXPs, which typically carry between 30 to 80% of all ISP traffic. For example, an IXP in Nepal transmits 31Mbps.

Technical details

Each ISP connects to Finder IXP using their own equipment (wireless, DSL, cable). A BGP session (dynamic routing protocol used by internet) is configured between the IXP router and the ISP router. The IXP router relays each ISP network announcements to all other connected ISPs.
